Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Medxpert Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030

Baseline Emissions for Medxpert Ltd

Baseline Year: January 2022 to December 2022
In 2022, Medxpert Ltd fully implemented its emissions tracking systems in accordance with the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) regulations. This system, reviewed by external consultants, ensures accuracy in monitoring and calculating our carbon footprint. The emissions data from 2022 will serve as our baseline for tracking future progress towards Net Zero by 2030.

Baseline Emissions Calculations
The emissions data encompasses Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions, calculated using consistent methodologies to provide a clear understanding of Medxpert’s environmental impact:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions related to the consumption of fuels such as natural gas and diesel, as well as emissions from owned or leased vehicles and fugitive emissions. These are calculated based on fuel volumes used across our operational regions.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity and heating energy, calculated based on regional energy consumption and the local grid’s emissions factors.
  • Scope 3: Indirect emissions from sources such as business travel, employee commuting (including teleworking), outsourced services, and cloud-based technologies. Scope 3 also includes emissions from the extraction and production of purchased goods and services, as well as waste disposal. These emissions are calculated using metrics such as air travel mileage, energy consumption, and estimates of home energy use during remote work.

Baseline Year Emissions: January 2022 to December 2022

  • Scope 1: 0.3 tCO2e
  • Scope 2: 0.4 tCO2e
  • Scope 3 (included sources): 3.2 tCO2e
  • Total Emissions: 3.87 tCO2e

Current Emissions Reporting

Reporting Year: January 2023 to December 2023
Since the baseline year of 2022, Medxpert Ltd has made progress in reducing its carbon emissions across all scopes, driven by improvements in energy efficiency, increased remote working, and optimized business practices.

  • Scope 1: 0.3 tCO2e
  • Scope 2: 0.3 tCO2e
  • Scope 3 (included sources): 2.8 tCO2e
  • Total Emissions: 3.4 tCO2e

Notes on Emission Reduction Efforts:
From 2022 to 2024, Medxpert Ltd has seen a reduction in Scope 3 emissions as a result of ongoing efforts to promote virtual meetings, reduce business travel, and optimize office energy use. Additionally, improvements in energy sourcing and office operations contributed to a decrease in Scope 2 emissions. These reductions are key steps towards our Net Zero goal by 2030.

Medxpert Ltd Carbon Reduction Plan

Emissions Reduction Targets

As part of our commitment to sustainability and achieving Net Zero, Medxpert Ltd has set ambitious carbon reduction goals:

  • Scope 1 & 2 Emissions: We aim to achieve a 11% reduction in Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy) per employee by the end of 2024, using 2022 as our baseline year.
  • Business Travel: Additionally, we aim to reduce emissions associated with business travel by 9% by the end of 2024.

We project that Medxpert’s absolute GHG emissions will decrease to 3.1 tCO2e by 2025 (a reduction of 9%) and that we are on track to reach Net Zero by 2030.

Key Actions Taken (2022 – 2023)

Since 2022, Medxpert Ltd has undertaken several initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint:

  • Energy-Efficient Office Space: Office spaces have been redesigned to maximize natural light and reduce reliance on artificial lighting. We have integrated smart, energy-efficient lighting and heating systems that adjust automatically based on occupancy.
  • Digital Transformation: We have adopted a digital-first approach, significantly reducing the use of printed documents. Electronic invoicing has replaced paper-based processes, cutting down on paper waste and transportation emissions.
  • Sustainable Office Supplies: We’ve switched to eco-friendly office supplies and eliminated single-use plastics such as disposable cups and utensils. Additionally, we’ve invested in energy-efficient equipment to lower office energy consumption.
  • Green Commuting: To promote sustainable commuting, we have encouraged the use of public transport and bicycles. Participation in programs like the Cycle to Work scheme has grown, and we provide secure bike storage for employees.
  • Virtual Meetings: Our shift towards virtual meetings has significantly reduced travel-related emissions. Post-pandemic, we continue to promote this practice to limit in-person meetings to only essential cases.
  • Recycling & Waste Management: Enhanced recycling systems have been implemented, and we’ve launched a “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” campaign to cut down on office waste and promote more sustainable practices among employees.

Future Goals and Actions (2024 – 2030)

As we progress toward our Net Zero goal by 2030, Medxpert Ltd will implement the following measures:

  • Science-Based Targets (SBTi): We are working towards setting Science Based Targets to align with global climate goals and ensure our carbon reduction pathway is scientifically robust and achievable.
  • Remote Work Expansion: Building on the success of our virtual meetings, we will further explore flexible remote work arrangements, reducing the need for commuting and office energy use.
  • Data Centre Efficiency: A comprehensive review of our data centres and IT infrastructure will be conducted to identify energy-saving opportunities. We will also explore renewable energy options to power these facilities.
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Transition: We are evaluating an electric vehicle scheme for employees, which includes installing EV charging stations at our offices and providing incentives for transitioning to low-emission vehicles.
  • Sustainable Supply Chain Management: We will require suppliers to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability by adhering to strict environmental criteria, including their own Net Zero commitments by 2050.
  • ISO 14001 Certification: Medxpert Ltd is aiming to pursue ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. This will provide a structured approach to continuously improving our environmental impact.
  • Renewable Energy Procurement: Where possible, we will exclusively source electricity from renewable providers. In shared buildings, we will work with management to encourage the adoption of green energy solutions.
  • Employee Engagement: We will continue to engage employees in sustainability initiatives through ongoing training and internal awareness campaigns. This will help embed a culture of environmental responsibility within the company.
  • Carbon Offsetting: For any residual emissions that cannot be fully eliminated, we will explore verified carbon offsetting projects to ensure a meaningful impact.
  • Sustainable Office Design: All future office refurbishments will prioritize energy efficiency and the use of low-impact materials. Environmental sustainability will be central to our physical infrastructure planning.

Scope 3 Emissions and Supplier Collaboration

We are enhancing our approach to Scope 3 emissions, which include indirect emissions from our supply chain, business travel, and outsourced activities. Over the next 12 months, we will strengthen our monitoring systems to gain a complete picture of these emissions and integrate sustainability criteria into supplier selection processes. Our procurement practices will increasingly focus on environmental performance, ensuring suppliers share our commitment to stainability.

Cultural Shift and Long-Term Vision

Over the next few years, our focus will be on fostering a cultural shift within Medxpert, ensuring employees continue to embrace low-carbon behaviours, including reduced travel, less reliance on printed documents, and more mindful energy use. Through targeted communication campaigns and training, we aim to embed sustainability into our daily operations.

Conclusion

Medxpert Ltd is committed to driving carbon reductions across its operations and leading by example in the healthcare industry. Our clear roadmap towards Net Zero by 2030, supported by targeted actions and employee engagement, ensures we are well-positioned to meet our sustainability goals. With continued progress in operational efficiency, supply chain management, and environmental stewardship, we are confident in our ability to achieve a greener future.
